Shadowrun Archetypes
You can never have enough archetypes, they make great contacts and they are easy to get playing fast for short sessions. One of the great apsects is that you get an idea of the archetypes attitude which help in giving the character life. While most people seem to prefer creating their own character, I like to adopt a nice archetype and change what I think is needed.
Frustrated Street Cop | Kensai |
"When I signed up with Lonestar, I thought I could make a difference. Helping people and putting criminals behind bars you know? What a crap, all I did was beating up poor suckers in riot controls. And when I finally arrested scum, they were back on the street even before I could finish my paperwork. But what really made me mad was the influence of the other corps. We could not touch them high suits. One time I arrested one, a real piece of slime he was. He resisted, so I gave him some punches to make him more docile. The next day, an hot shot lawyer gave me the biggest lawsuit I ever saw. Only decent thing to do was to quit. But they ain't seen nothing yet. They're not rid of me yet. This time, no corp lawyer can protect them."
The ex copper is ready for action. During the time he served he saw enough misery and now he wants to do something about that. If you pay him enough he is willing to crack some tough nuts, especialy the corporate type. He ain't a Sam or merc, but his experience, skills and contacts make him a valuable asset to any team. De ex-Copper got frequently bumped on the head by corporate walls and corruption so everybody can forgive him to be a cynic.

Roleplaying notes:
This ex-copper kept some handy souvenirs from his old job. The many contacts he made are also a valuable asset. He may choose four contacts. He is known to act deceisively and with authority. He must keep his wits not to act like the cop he was to avoid getting into nasty situations. On the other hand he refuses to let go when he smells a track, like a pitbull who has bitten one and won't stop biting.

"I am a master of the sword, I understand its ways and know its dangers. I don't use the sword, neither does the sword uses me. That is not necessary for I and the sword are one. The sword may seem old fashioned when compared to guns or puny in reflection to flashy magic, but I assure you that it has never lost its edge. Even in these times the sword is still the master of the battlefield. For a good sword has a soul, something a gun lacks. That is why the sword will always beat other weapons, how mighty they may look to the inexperienced."
The kensai is devoted to his soulbrother, his sword. He spend years perfecting his art until his teacher taught him everything he knew. Still the kensai is not satisfied, he knows there is more to learn. So he set out in the world to find a new teacher. A harsh demanding teacher he found, a teacher where failure meant death. He found the most dangerous training ground ever, the streets. Now he is determined to survive this teacher and to learn all this new teacher can teach him. But he fears that even this teacher is unable to learn him everything there is to know about the sword.

Roleplaying notes:
The Kensai is the mystical master of the sword. His improved armed combat reflects his sword mastery and makes him rather good at it to. A Kensai needs to be quick, but even with increased reflexes and quickness he ain't no streetsam. His enhanced hearing and lowlight vision makes sure that he will not be put at an disadvantage due to bad sight and such. His combat sense helps him become a tougher more experienced warrior.
